Frankfort To Participate In $1.84 Million Loan Program From IEPA To Replace Lead Service Lines

The Village of Frankfort was recently awarded a ±$1.8-million 100% forgivable loan from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) to replace lead water service lines within the community. A service line is the small (3/4” to 1-1/2”) pipe that delivers water to your home or business from the water main in the street.  As part of this project, if you have a lead water service line, it will be replaced from the water main in the street to the water meter located in your home or business.  Construction is expected to commence in August 2021 and conclude by the end of 2022.

The Utilities Department has scheduled two informational public open houses regarding the upcoming Lead Service Line Replacement Program.  The open houses will take place on Thursday, July 29th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and Saturday, July 31st from 9:00 – 11:00 am at the Village Hall, 432 W. Nebraska where we will provide additional project details and do our best to answer any questions you may have.

Your participation in this program is COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY but is encouraged. This work has an approximate value of $9,000 per service line and will be provided at NO COST to the Village or to the property owner.  For questions or further information, please feel free to contact me directly at (815) 412-2432 or zbrown@frankfortil.org.

Please share this information with anyone within the program area to help maximize participation.  I look forward to getting this important project started.
