Earth Day/Arbor Day Event       Sign Up Today!

FRANKFORT, MARCH 11, 2024 - In celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day, the Village of Frankfort invites residents to participate in a community cleanup event on Saturday, April 20, 2024. This initiative encourages community members to come together and contribute to the beautification of our surroundings.

EVENT DETAILS:
Date and Time: Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM
Cleanup Locations: The Village designated various locations throughout the community that require cleanup.  Volunteers are asked to pick up trash and debris.  Gloves and bags are provided.  Please contact Sue Lynchey at 815-469-2177 to sign up for location(s).

  • Old Plank Road Trail from Elsner Road east to Oak Street
  • Old Plank Road Trail from Elsner Road west to 108th Avenue
  • Old Plank Road Trail from White Street to Pfeiffer Road
  • Elsner Road to Nebraska Street
  • Laraway Road between Center Road & 80th Avenue
  • 116th Avenue from railroad tracks to Laraway Road
  • 116th Avenue from Laraway Road to Steger Road
  • Wolf Road from railroad tracks to Laraway Road
  • Wolf Road from Laraway Road to Steger Road
  • Around pond near The Creamery
  • Rt. 30 from Locust Street to Wolf Road

Garbage collected should be placed near the road for collection by the Public Works Department.  HOAs should place collected garbage near the entrance to the subdivision.  Please contact the Village of Frankfort at 815-469-2177 to notify and request the Public Works Department to pick up garbage placed at HOA entrances.

T-shirt and Supplies Pickup:
Village of Frankfort, 432 W. Nebraska Street, between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. All participants will receive gloves, garbage bags, and a free T-shirt (while supplies last; T-shirt sizes are not guaranteed).

Volunteer Lunch @ 11:30 AM
After the cleanup, volunteers are invited to a Volunteer Lunch at the Utilities/Public Works Facility, 524 Center Road, starting at 11:30 AM. Enjoy complimentary pizza and cookies as a token of our appreciation.

Prizes Awarded!
Volunteers stand a chance to win gift cards to local businesses. Prizes will be awarded to a volunteer from each age group (Children 16 & under, Adults) in the following categories:

  1. Most Trash Collected
  2. Strangest Item Collected
  3. Dirtiest Volunteer

How to Enter:
Submit your photos for any category to slynchey@frankfortil.org by 11:30 AM on April 20. Winners will be announced during the luncheon.

Students Can Earn Community Service Hours!
Participating students can earn community service hours, contributing to both their personal development and the betterment of the community.
