CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON DOWNTOWN PARKING LOTS WITH PRAIRIE PARK PLAYGROUND AND PATH IMPROVEMENTS TO START SOON

FRANKFORT, IL, MAY 7, 2024 - The Village of Frankfort is excited to announce the commencement of construction on new downtown parking lots located at Prairie Park and 2 Smith Street.  Plans are also underway for playground and path improvements at Prairie Park. This multifaceted initiative, funded by the Village of Frankfort and Senator Mike Hastings through a grant, aims to enhance parking accessibility, recreational opportunities, and overall quality of life for residents and visitors in the downtown area.

The new parking lots at Prairie Park and 2 Smith Street will provide much-needed parking spaces to accommodate the growing demand in downtown Frankfort. Additionally, playground and path improvements at Prairie Park will create a more inviting and accessible outdoor space for families and individuals to enjoy.

"This comprehensive initiative reflects our commitment to improving infrastructure, enhancing recreational amenities, and supporting economic growth in our community. We are appreciative of the partnership of Senator Mike Hastings, whose commitment to our town has helped to facilitate these projects."

Construction on the parking lots is expected to be completed by June 1st (weather permitting), and playground/path improvements will begin later this spring/summer. The Village of Frankfort will provide regular updates on the progress of the project and any relevant information regarding access to parking and recreational amenities during construction.
